I am currently a photographic artist working within the fine art spectrum. I work on ideas involving biographies, culture, and history. I was born in Llanelli and I became interested in photography while at school. I had my first practical experience of photography when I joined the Llanelli Amateur Photography Society. To gain more experience in photography and art I attended the Foundation Course in art in Carmarthen. I then studied Fine Art Photography at the Glasgow School of Art and later did a Master’s in Photography at the University of Michigan, USA.

My main inspiration is my photography tutor at Glasgow School of Art – Thomas Joshua Cooper, an American photographic artist, who makes incredible black and white landscape photographs. His passion for teaching and photography and his creative ideas about how to convey the world around him inspired my career as an artist.

I enjoy making images and printing them in black and white in a traditional darkroom. Although this is a time-consuming process, I believe they have more character and presence than digital prints.

I love taking photographs, but unfortunately that's the easy part, so my work has had to develop a close relationship with the complexity of photography. I've also come to appreciate the relationship between photographs and other artistic media. I therefore like to use photographs in relation to installation and performance-related work. My use of photographic technology has also evolved, from initially working with an 'analogue process' to using contemporary digital technologies. Photography and its role within time is an important factor in my work, so I use photography and make videos.
